Week 5

Last week was such a full week of fun! We started working on our computer skills using a mouse and a "clicker finger" to be able to move objects and "drag and drop." Soon students will be able to complete assignments for math on the computer and continue with Raz-Kids Headsprout program.

The Headsprout website is an online program that helps students with phonics and basic reading skills. Soon they will also have Compass Learning that targets the individual needs of each child in both reading and math. All of these programs can be accessed from home with their logins. More information will be sent home in the next couple of weeks.

Field Trips

In order to allow for more time for parents to turn in driver's packets we will be postponing our first field trip. Also, I am scheduled to attend meetings with the county office that week so it works out if we wait till the next field trip to Amber Oaks Farm on October 22nd. We need about 3-4 more drivers (based on car occupancy) so that we have a seat for every child in the class. Check in with Ms. Kim in the office for paperwork or to drop off fingerprinting paperwork. The Amber Oaks Farm will be a joint field trip with second grade and siblings will be allowed to ride together. 

Volunteer

Please continue to check our Volunteer Website (http://www.trackitforward.com/site/71361/events) for supplies that need to be donated. Also, we will be keeping track of volunteer hours through this website.

Coming up next are days to volunteer for construction projects. We will be making shade structures and trying to protect plants and other objects from the sun.
